My longest wait was about two hours, shortest, about 15 minutes. It's very sensitive to the total number of cars loaded. You can buy your way to the head of the line for $50, and get a guaranteed 30 minutes.

Amtrak is still using 1950s technology to announce cars coming off the racks. The guy looks as the car is driven past, and reads off the number.

They know how the cars were loaded, they could tell people "your car is in group 2, that group will be unloaded between 9.15 and 9.45", but there's no interest in improving service.
