Crescent 19 (17) stuck behind freight out of fuel
Author: Amtrak-P42

Currently on the southbound crescent running only 45 minutes down came to stop at 435am EST in Gaffney, SC account NS running a heavy freight out of fuel on the single track ahead.

Been here for 2 hours so far and according to dispatcher they are having trouble with the brakes trying to hook up the relief engines from Spartanburg to pull the train backward to the double track.

Out of fuel, come on NS.

Historically, NS has had a militaristic style discipline of operations, maybe over done.
So in today's NS, what happen when they eff up like this ?

Back in 08 or 09 NS had to reroute there trains through Folkston, GA a they held one just north of Folkston it was there for just over 2 hours will when the ds gave him a clear to go south the conductor came back and sad where a just about of fuel and we can't make it the last 20 miles. By the time the fuel truck got there the had to get a new crew.
