Passenger Trains > Amtrak green box carsDate: 07/30/18 04:58 Amtrak green box cars Author: donstrack Back in 2008, Todd Montgomery posted a nice photo of two Amtrak green box cars...
https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,1785606,1785606#1785606 I am working on some history of Amtrak's mail and express cars, and these two cars were among 50 ex SP 50 footers in the AMTK 70000-series. Various photos online show some in Amtrak Platinum Mist paint, and some in green paint, so I am trying to figure why and which ones were green, or if they were all green and some were repainted. Here is what I have so far... http://utahrails.net/pass/amtrak-mail-express.htm Can anyone tell me if all 50 cars in the 70000-series were delivered in 1997 in the green paint? I think there are 2 of the green box cars at the front of the express section of #4. I'm flabbergasted when I see pictures of the Southwest Chief from this era! Date: 07/30/18 14:14 Re: Amtrak green box cars Author: retcsxcfm What year was this photo?
