During today's flash flooding in NYC, area in & around Penn Station New York received an influx of water. As a result, NJT 7th Ave Concourse received substantial damage to the ceiling and entrance to the concourse. Until further notice, the area is closed, as crews work to repair the damaged areas.

In addition to the damage, the platform entrance to the NJT escalator for track 7/8 was flooded and will be reopened as soon as possible. Customers may use all other exits and entrances for NJT, Amtrak and LIRR to access tracks 7 and 8.

NY Penn has had problems with water intrusion over the years.

The track level is probably 30 feet below river levels, so storm water has to be pumped up and out

As I recall tracks in the station are about 10 ft below river level.
