AMTK 13 PTC Test Train On NS ALA East End
Author: NSSpike

Heard over the scanner around 4am this morning ID'd as AMTK #13 head west into Temple Georgia. It held the main as NS 198 went into the siding.
Had word yesterday this was headed our way as a push/pull consist. Do not know what equipment made up this train.

Will PTC help ease congestion and improve on time performance of #19+20?

Unlikely. PTC has not much to do with congestion mitigation.

19/20 are fouled by a heavy, bidirectional traffic flow on what's largely a single track railroad between Meridian and Atlanta. You could install the world's most advanced signal system, but without additional second track (or diversion of traffic to other lines) it is what it is.
