Passenger Trains > Starlight with rare powerDate: 10/11/18 01:16 Starlight with rare power Author: DelMonteX Yesterdays (10/10/18) Starlight had AMTK 507 as a leader. Not often a P32 gets that job.
Here it is running along the south Puget Sound and through Steilacoom WA, just after sunset. Steve Carter Gig Harbor, WA My Photography You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Unloved as they are, the P32s somehow just keep plugging along.

66 Date: 10/11/18 08:09 Re: Starlight with rare power Author: PHall P32's are on the Starlight all of the time and they end up leading 4 or 5 times a year. Usually because of a problem with the P42.
Date: 10/11/18 08:39 Re: Starlight with rare power Author: CarolVoss The 507 was on the cover of a Trains mag in 1997. We rode in it from SLO to Santa Barbara on #11 with Tommy the Rocket De La Rosa in Oct 1994. It was called Slow Sally. The 518 was called Wallowing Wilma.

Thank you for sharing!!! :):):) Date: 10/11/18 12:46 Re: Starlight with rare power Author: PHall So for those who really know, which loads slower, the P32 or the P40/42? I've heard the P40/42's load at a rather slow rate.

Thank you! Date: 10/14/18 09:12 Re: Starlight with rare power Author: jp1822 Coast Starlight consist - even though three sleepers strong - looks like such a small consist these days compared to years past. However, with more frequent train service to mid-coast CA (San Luis Obispo), guess some coaches are not needed. However this train hits another critical point between Klamath Falls and Euguene with peak loads.........
