Cloudy times for Amtrak
Author: pummer

I just returned from a 13-day trip from Wisconsin to New England for Fall color viewing. While the color was spectacular, the weather wasn't. I didn't have a full day of sunshine on the entire trip. Managed to photograph a number of Amtrak trains - all under overcast skies.

1. Southbound Adirondack along Lake Champlain at Port Kent, NY.
2. Northbound Vermonter at White River Junction, VT. (corrected)
3. Southbound Vermonter approaching Montpelier Junction, VT.

4. Eastbound Pennsylvanian in the rain at Cassandra, PA.
5. Southbound Saluki train 391 at Ashkum, IL.
6. Southbound Lincoln Service train 303 passing the old depot in Dwight, IL.

Two of my favorite day trains in the East! It's always great to take one northbound to Burlington, VT and then the other southbound from either Port Kent or Plattsburgh, NY. Sunshine is a premium right now in the Northeast. Wettest summer and Fall so far in years!

These are very good images in spite of the cloudy skies. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for pointing that out. Don't know why I mixed up the caption. Correction has been made. I've added a photo that actually was taken in Bellows Falls. The southbound Vermonter exiting the tunnel beneath downtown Bellows Falls.
