Auto Train SB at Doswell Va
Author: ns2557

We had an opportunity to stop at Doswell Va on our way south yetsreday. While we actually wanted to shoot the Buckingham Branch here, we always seem to manage a shot or 2 on the ex RF&P now CSX Main. At least 1 Amtrak each time we have had the chance to do so.

Yesterday was no different. While here and after we got our shots of the BB, Train 53 came by at Track Speed with it's lengthy consist. Here AMT 824 leads 831 and if my memory is correct, about 48 cars of train behind the power. Train was on time out of Lorton and was On Time, I would guess thru here.. Sure is nice to see such a train running as this one was.

Thanks for looking. Be well. Ben

Nice array of traditional RF&P signals.  Their days are no doubt numbered.

Interesting... upper level looks like a diner (blanked middle windows) but lower level looks to have windows next to the door, unlike the first diner. Weird. I don’t know what to make of it.

That second Diner in the consist is a 33100 series Lounge cars.
Like this, there are about 5 of these cars.
All 5 of these are assigned to the AT.

I got this photo off the http://trainweb.org/web_lurker/AmtrakSuperliner/ site.
