Why don't these pundits spare us all this BS, and tell the truth about Anderson.

Looking at what Anderson has done to Amtrak in his first year as President - the following is obvious:

.  Basically he is nothing but a "cost cutter"  -  degrading service under the pretense of saving money, but actually hurting growth
.  He is derelict in his duty to address Amtrak's real problems--no new equipment & chronic lateness--which also hurts growth
. His official announcement that he will not talk to the media, proves he wants to hide something.

It's time the press stops mincing words about this guy.

At least we can agree Anderson’s agenda needs to be made public as a civil servant. The wrong person for a good of the public leadership job.

Anderson just doing what he was hired to do. Lowes recently hired the former Penneys CEO who left a swath of destruction
behind him there to stabilize the company and 6 weeks after he arrived he announced that the 99 Orchard Supply Hardware stores that Lowes bought in 2013 would be closed by Nov 10 and they did.

And now he's starting to cut Lowes stores too.  Homer over at Home Depot is eating their lunch!

Carol:  where you would say "Anderson is just doing what he was hired to do" - I would say- Anderson was hired to destroy Amtrak.

Time to stop ignoring the negative actions this guy has taken which is damaging Amtrak's growth - as well as his failure to address the serious problems Amtrak has.

I would urge everyone to access Frank Wilner's opinion piece but immediately skip over it and read the response from Bob VanderClute.  He titles his piece "Let's Stop Whining and Start Winning".  With all the negativity surrounding the current situation at Amtrak it is truly refreshing to hear someone of whom I have great respect put forward a positive proposal.  I am not aware of the details of it and don't even know that I would support it, but at least someone is suggesting what we SHOULD do and not just complain about what Amtrak IS doing.

How do we access that response? or can you send a link? My good friend and sadly deceased Danny Boehr worked for Van Der Clute at Amtrak and also worked for him in consulting roles after they left Atk. VanderClute is a very knowledgeable guy.

I’m sorry, I didn’t make clear — the VanderClute response was to the Wilner article “(Amtrak) A failure of public enterprise?”  Go to the thread with that title two messages down and you will find the link.
