Hallelujah.

I am not from BUF, so I have no knowledge.  But my friends in BUF are part of the group that think this is the wrong location.   I do hope it is a boon for downtown BUF.  

And I hope the state of NY continues spending substantial monies on track additions and signal improvements between ALB & BUF.   It can bring faster operations; more frequencies; and additional daytime service to Ohio and west.  

I presume those friends are Central Terminal fans ? I am glad they are rebuilding Exchange Street instead.

So, what is the history of Exchange Street Station? I looked at photos and it certainly seems woefully inadequate given the one track it seems to have. I would think an important location with multiple trains would require additional tracks. Maybe there are more tracks then are in the photo?

Exchange St. has LV origins?

It is an old NYC facility that was brought back to life in 1979 when Buffalo Central terminating trains were extended to Niagara Falls. There were two tracks. At some point in the Conrail era, it was ripped out.

Unfortuately, I  do not believe that this will service the Lake Shore Ltd.

At Main Street by South Park Avenue between the Buffalo River and the Key Bank Center (sports arena & concert venue).  The headhouse has been razed but the remaining structure is now a storage and maintenance facility for Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority rail transit cars.

Granted it the State of NY has been steadily investingin rail infrastructure and station improvements in upstate NY. This is a good thing, as many people in upstate NY believe all their money is sent "downstate" to NYC and Long Island. Hopefully the station and even some track improvements evetually will bring about better and faster service. The passenger service speeds are pretty descent in upstate NY, but congestion is still a problem.

That address is not near the site of Lackawanna's station in Buffalo.

This location is the Erie SK Yard became the EL-NKP station in 1962-63 when the DL&W Buffalo station was closed.
