Passenger Trains > Amtrak to Secaucus NJ?Date: 12/08/18 06:45 Amtrak to Secaucus NJ? Author: Lackawanna484 NJ.com asks if Amtrak will add a stop at (NJT) Secaucus station.
The Army Navy game in 2021, the new super mall, etc https://www.nj.com/traffic/2018/12/next-stop-for-amtrak-secaucus-thats-could-be-an-american-dream-for-the-meadowlands.html Posted from Android Date: 12/08/18 06:54 Re: Amtrak to Secaucus NJ? Author: CPR_4000 Would save time by eliminating backtracking from NYP to Secaucus for NJT passengers at the cost of slowing AMTK schedules by a few minutes.

Author: joemvcnj There are many reasons why Amtrak should stop a few trains a day at Secaucus, the above being just one of them, but they are too stubborn and do not want to, same attitude as Princeton Jct, which lost 2/3rds of its Amtrak service and 1/3 rd of its usage in the last 10 years. Former Congressman Rush Holt was after them for that too. Metropark has parking issues. Trenton is a poor choice for south and central Jersey access. But Amtrak regards the Garden State as flyover country. They have all sorts of cockamamie excuses as to why they won't do it.

At one point, senator Lautenberg proposed alternating downtown and EWR for Amtrak stops and angered a lot of people in positions of power. Posted from Android Date: 12/08/18 10:01 Re: Amtrak to Secaucus NJ? Author: DavidP Lackawanna484 Wrote:

He sent back a surprisingly lengthy response explaining the placement of crossovers on the corridor would make it very time consuming to route Acela trains to the platform tracks at EWR. Not sure if that’s still the case. Dave Date: 12/08/18 11:28 Re: Amtrak to EWR Author: timz There's a 45-mph x-over to the platform at the SW end
of the airport station, and a return x-over 0.6 mile north. Date: 12/08/18 13:52 Re: Amtrak to EWR Author: njmidland There was also talk of extending the 7 NYC subway line out to this station. I am pretty sure that thought/plan is dead now.
