At least it wasn't as bad as the accident I was involved in, that happened one year ago tomorrow. I do admit though, the asphalt on I-5 tasted better then the coffee they served in the hospitals I was in due to said accident.

Has there been any movement or follow-up on the State of Washington or Oregon buying the former Wisconsin Talgos that are now stored at Beech Grove? Maybe a lease arrangement? They'd likely have to have some interior modifications for similar Pacific Northwest operation.

Hear hear. I-5 never felt so soft either.

Word around Holgate St was that WSDOT put the kibosh on those trains coming here. I have also heard that they lack lavatories.

I can't imagine they would build intercity trains without bathrooms.

Says right here that the Wisconsin Talgos were equipped with wheelchair accessible washrooms: https://wisarp.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/talgo-facts.pdf

Talgo Series 6 and Series 8 trainsets don't meet minimum crash standards.  This became public during the NTSB hearing in July.  The FRA had a difficult time explaining why they granted the waivers in the first place.  My understanding is that the FRA has learned from their mistake and is refusing to grant a waiver for the two trainsets sitting in Beach Grove.  I doubt those trainsets will ever see revenue service.

Series 6 has the same ocnstruction as Series 8. Series 8 was tested at Pueblo and met all the requirements. Now they don't meet crash standards?

How convenient.
