Date: 01/17/19 10:32 Re: NYC L Train soap opera transcript Author: joemvcnj There are risks involved without a total shutdown, the worst one being toxic silica dust not settling down sufficiently over the weekend by start of service on Monday AM, and then being held in filters of the trains' HVAC systems, carried on the trains themselves, or flying into adjacent stations on the Manhattan and Brooklyn sides.
Byford said at a long radio interview about a week ago that he would have a 3rd party review it all. Now he is side-lined. Governor Cuomo is on quite an ego trip. While the NYCT Canarsie tunnels are 10 years newer than Amtrak's Hudson River tunnel (100 and 110 y.o.), Canarsie's concrete tunnel linings structurally are in better shape. |
