Passenger Trains > FL: BrightLine looking at a site in Fort PierceDate: 02/05/19 11:08 FL: BrightLine looking at a site in Fort Pierce Author: Lackawanna484 TC Palm reports that BrightLine / Virgin Trains is looking at a vacant site in downtown Fort Pierce (St Lucie County) as a potential station site. The location is about a block from the waterfront, and adjacent to downtown. One block north of the train mural at Orange Street crossing.
The site is north of downtown in an artsy neighborhood of 1920s homes, The exhaust water from the old power plant drew a large community of manatees when the air temperatures dropped into the 40s and 30s. The town has completed an ambitious expansion of their waterfront, with a long breakwater, and many yachts wintering. They want the station, unlike Stuart, which still has not agreed on a consistent position. Or Vero Beach which said NO. https://www.tcpalm.com/story/news/local/shaping-our-future/growth/2019/02/05/virgin-trains-usa-interested-h-d-king-site-fort-pierce/2775858002/ Date: 02/06/19 01:51 Re: FL: BrightLine looking at a site in Fort Pierce Author: ts1457 Thanks for that info. I hope the site works out for a station. That should be good for all parties involved.

1) Virgin is one of two developers left standing. 2) The city has muzzled its professional land use people. 3) The council expects to review proposals, interview developers, have lunch, award the deal, and go home in one day. https://www.tcpalm.com/story/news/local/shaping-our-future/growth/2019/05/01/virgin-trains-audubon-development-finalists-fort-pierce-hotel-project/3639427002/ Posted from Android |
