Passenger Trains > #'s 5&6 Lead the Way Over The Hill (again!)Date: 02/15/19 18:10 #'s 5&6 Lead the Way Over The Hill (again!) Author: BoilingMan It's turned into a pattern this winter on Donner: It snows all night and somewhere in the wee hours the RR gets real quiet. In the morning the line is closed with flangers & shreaders hard at it. Around noon the MoW people start releasing their sections to the dispatcher for operation. Inevitably, first in line to cross are Amtrak's E&WB Zephyrs. Today, as usual, #5 waited at Truckee and #6 at Emigrant Gap for the word to proceed. Usually this means a flanger escort.
#6 went by me, here in Dutch Flat, around 1:30 (see Western Page) and shown here #5 is by at 5:00. Freight to follow... SR Date: 02/15/19 18:53 Re: #'s 5&6 Lead the Way Over The Hill (again!) Author: chrisparker The train looks miserable.
