#'s 5&6 Lead the Way Over The Hill (again!)

It's turned into a pattern this winter on Donner:  It snows all night and somewhere in the wee hours the RR gets real quiet.  In the morning the line is closed with flangers & shreaders hard at it.  Around noon the MoW people start releasing their sections to the dispatcher for operation.  Inevitably, first in line to cross are Amtrak's E&WB Zephyrs.  Today, as usual, #5 waited at Truckee and #6 at Emigrant Gap for the word to proceed.  Usually this means a flanger escort.
#6 went by me, here in Dutch Flat, around 1:30 (see Western Page) and shown here #5 is by at 5:00.
