Passenger Trains > Amtrak 6 of the 14th (update) 10:14 cdtDate: 03/16/19 06:27 Amtrak 6 of the 14th (update) 10:14 cdt Author: wpjones Currently #6 is sitting in LNK with nowhere to go. BNSF is inspecting the Platte River bridge east of Ashland this AM with some kind of decision made after that. BNSF doesn't want it going to KC is my understanding.
Steve I was just told the BNSF is saying 15:00 departure from LNK. Evidently they are working on the Platte river bridge at Ashland. Steve Edited 4 time(s). Last edit at 03/16/19 21:04 by wpjones. Another post said Amtrak 6 drop off some extra cars at Omaha, NE Day ago or so.

And the combined train Yesterday did not leave any thing in OMA. When it went around the WYE at P.Jct the entire train was still there with four Engines. It went around the west leg and after it was on the main the Engineer moved to the Engine at the other end and went East. twjurgens was there and will post photos later. Superliner trains are not MU compatible so the lead units did all the pulling. So evidently the Platte River bridge situation is not a factor, or there will be bus bridges. Date: 03/16/19 13:01 Re: Amtrak 6 of the 14th Author: PHall thetuck Wrote:

The coaches used by Amtrak California on the Surfliners have to have MU capability. Date: 03/16/19 14:26 Re: Amtrak 6 of the 14th Author: Rover 3:13 dept from LNK 21mph

Date: 03/16/19 15:39 Re: Amtrak 5/6 of the 16th Author: wpjones The Platte river bridge was out of service today until 15:00 while the BNSF added rock to the river bank so they didn't loose the aproches to the bridge. Hwy 6 closed during this process as a precaution.
This info came from the State employees making sure no one went down to the bridges.
