Nice! So the legends are true, the stories foretold by the ancient ones about a Viewliner II sleeper...thanks for posting.

Actually, the New River may be the only ViewLiner I that has received its new name. It is the 62043 and was originally named the Sunset View.

This is NOT a Viewliner II sleeper!

The first new Viewliner II sleeper which has been delivered by CAF has not been accepted by Amtrak!

Remember, that Viewliner II's roomettes do not have in-room toilets, so the I's and II's will not operate in revenue service together.

It will take quite sometime for enough II's to be dleivered and accepted to allow for them to enter service.

Why can't a Viewliner I and a II be in service together - what difference does it make if one car's roomettes lack toilets wheres the other has them ?

Different amenities will mean confusion on what one can expect ... also total roomette count is different in the two versions.  They could be in service together provided the consist remains the same for all runs of that set and the reservation is properly set to so note.
