Passenger Trains > Fleeing Vehicle Pushes Through Lowered Crossing Arms

Here's a screen grab from a police chase in Southern California on Thursday, showing a fleeing white truck pushing through lowered crossing arms on the Gold Line tracks in South Pasadena, just seconds before a train rolled through.

The truck pushing through the crossing gates was one of the more dramatic moments in a horrific chase that ended in a T-bone collision with a black SUV. The white truck was traveling about 53 mph when it T-boned the other car, according to ABC 7. The driver of the SUV had to be extricated by firefighters.

As for the Gold Line crossing gate incident, at that point in the chase police had backed off due to the truck driver's erratic behavior, but he continued to drive as if officers were right behind him. Authorities were tracking him from above, however.

The driver of the white truck did stop, and presumably look both ways, before pushing through the gates. Moments after he crossed, the TV broadcast showed a Gold Line train roll through the crossing.

Sounds like another driver geed-up on some drug, or booze.

NM's last Legislature just turned it  down, AFAIK.

So what became of the driver of the fleeing white truck?

The driver, which appeared to be an older, white guy, was taken into custody.

Here's a split-screen shot showing the collision that ended the chase, right, and the suspect, who was following the officers' commands, on the ground waiting to be cuffed.

I haven't seen any follow-up about the suspect. At last report, the SUV driver , a 63-year-old woman, was out of the hospital on Friday.

Why does one have to say anything about color.?  All colors  can be stupid drivers.

So far, traffic data does not show any consistant changes between State that ok legal use of weed vs State that don't. Some studies sugges increased accidents, while a few others did not. 
Time will be the ultimate test.

The vast majority of SoCal car-chase perps are black or Hispanic/Latino.

Have never seen a SE Asian car chase perp.

With a name like that, I think we can "pigeon hole" the appropriate demographic he belongs to.

The reality is that it is all irrelevant ... except for pushing through the quad gates about 5 seconds before a train reached the crossings (and the white truck was a few houses away).

I watched the persuit on TV. 
The ultimate wreck occured on Holly Street and Orange Grove Avenue in Pasadena, California.
