Moratorium on PV's in DC?
Author: bandob

Heard on the grapevine that track construction in Washington Union Station may mean a temporary halt to PV trips that require car storage in DC, on account of lack of track capacity. Any confirmation or updates?

It's too bad MARC cannot run some reverse peak trains on the Brunswick Line, and not have to store all those consists in and about Union Station all day, maybe even make double-use of a couple of rush hour train sets from Brunswick, and use less train sets en toto to run the service.

Does MARC have any ability to use Ivy City Yard as a base to store trains?

Alongside tthe WMATA right of way at the Galludet (nee New Yrok Ave) station, there is an abandoned WMATA outbound track disconnected at both ends. Amtrak is right along side of it. Be nice if Amtrak could commandeer it and have an extra place for someone to stash passenger rail cars.

I believe Tracks 7 and 8, which are non electrified, are getting wired up. Hence temporarily moving PVs out of those locations.
