Amtrak 184 Leads The Builder Through The Golden Light Zone
Author: walstib

The Portland section of the Empire Builder to Chicago rolls along the Columbia River between Bingen, and Dallesport, on Thursday evening.

Amtrak 40th Anniversary heritage locomotive 184 leads.

When I was in Portland earlier that day, I thought I spied the 184's distinctive grey nose while the engine was parked at the south end of the depot. But it was far away, and I was in a hurry, so I couldn't be certain.

Turns out it was, which was a nice treat. We don't see a lot of heritage locomotives on the Builder or Starlight any longer, it seems.
