Varnish On The Move
Author: walstib

I caught this BNSF passenger special moving east through Sprague,Washington last Friday night at sunset. I understand it came east via Stampede Pass earlier in the day.

The second shot is of the same train a week earlier, on Monday, in Seattle.

The short dome pictured is the former 1956 Denver Zephyr blunt-end Vista Dome-observation car Silver Veranda. After joining the BNSF fleet a couple of years back, it is now known as the Canyon View. I have yet to see it operate on the end of a train, but I sure would like to.

Very nice!  Thanks for posting!
Was Silver Veranda the ex-Denver Zephyr observation car?

SILVER CHATEAU was the sister car to SILVER VERANDA. Chateau was in an accident and ended being scrapped unfortunately. So glad to see Veranda looking good and 'living'. I logged mannnny miles in both cars between Chicago and Denver.
