Most likely. We were stopped for an hour west of Omaha on #6 on the 27th and between Omaha and Creston, IA there was severe flooding and it appeared the track had been raised. With more heavy rain the 27th, runoff could have raised the Missouri even more.

BTW, the Mississippi north of La Crosse was as high as several folks from that area could remember. All of it is going downstream and will make for more records south of Saint Louis. Also, with all the flooded fields, the farmers will have a hard time planting or will have to replant. Your price for next year's Cheerios will be higher.

Amtrak feed today on Twitter says 5(27) had an equipment issue east of Omaha but is back on the move running 7 hours late.  Feed also says #5 and #6 will be detoured today between CHI and OMA.  Passengers for intermediate stops will be bussed, except passengers on #6 for Naperville should stay on #6 to Chicago and take a Metra train back to NPV.

Shame they can't make a stop in Wheaton and give passengers the option of taking a taxi down to Naperville instead of having to go all the way into Chicago and back out again.

I’m on 6(27) and I believe there was some sort of medical emergency in McCook, NE that delayed us some. Then we had to wait on 5(28) to detour around flooding near Bellevue, NE and do its station work in Omaha before we could come in and do ours. The detour process on the UP/IAIS through Council Bluffs took some time, a number of hand switches to throw and we had to have a UP and BNSF pilot crew. Once on the BNSF Council Bluffs Sub we had to wait for an opposing stack train and then tiptoe south at 10-20 MPH. When we reached the Creston Sub we had to stop a couple times to get PTC engaged. After that pretty smooth sailing but now we’re stopped at Melrose, IA now that our crew has reached their hours of service. The conductor said he thought today’s 5 would be detouring.

Even better, there is a PACE bus that runs between Naperville and Wheaton.
