New Orleans Public Belt + streetcar shop
Author: casco17

Here are a few more pics from the recent Railroad Station Historical Society trip.
We did a drive by of the New Orleans Public Belt RR HQ - does anyone know if they ever offer trips to the public on that passenger car?

Meanwhile, we also walked by the streetcar shop; this picture was taken from the sidewalk.

When I was living and working in DC in the late '80s I got a tour of that shop and rode the cars on both lines. Very impressive!
(The tour was arranged by a colleague).

A bunch of us Brits hired those cars and travelled much of the NOLA Public Belt railroad in April 2017 behind engine 3001.
Unfortunately we didn’t traverse the Hughie Long bridge but otherwise it was a great few hours scooping rare track.
