Despite all the hype from rating-driven clickbait outfits like the Weather Channel, "Barry" doesn't yet exist, at least according the one agency that really counts, the National Hurricane Center. It's "potential tropical cyclone two."

Looks like  NOAA expects a considerable storm surge, pushing into the rivers well inland.  The rivers are already bringing a lot of water south from Missouri, Iowa, etc

The greatest damage to New Orleans was not caused directly by Hurricane Katrina, but by the associated storm surge afterwards.

It is better to be safe than sorry.

Tropical Storm Barry

Upgraded now to tropical storm status.
Track more than likely up over the Memphis area and then up the Ohio River valley.
A potentially very juicy rain maker, especially when and if the remnants hit the mountains of Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
NS and UP have embargo'ed New Orleans but CN is still running a few freights and allowing the empty passenger trains across.
Had expected a turn of 59 at Memphis or Jackson today, since there is a second engine in the consist for that purpose.
Apparently got to run on through.
Have not heard of Amtrak evacuating any equipment from NOL as of this point.
