We identified areas where the cybersecurity and resiliency of the company’s train control systems could be improved and recommended certain improvements to management.


Using cable or fiber with no outside access instead of internet to control the system?

Keeping your own signal techs off ladders could also reduce vulnerabilities.
That was demonstrated in Chicago a few months ago.

Automatic updates of operating systems, etc are prime targets for hackers.  Who updates the security systems for their refrigerators or thermostats?  Which access your home's routers...

That entirely depends on who one allows access. Unfortunately most people are too technically illiterate about such stuff to meaningfully set up secure policies.

Of coruse if you operate your mission critical network similar to operating your home network with next to zero knowledge about how to keep them secure, you get what you asked for.
