And now something different.....
Author: Misfit138

After reading every ones 45 snipes over the Auto Train changes, I never thought I'd read so many opinions on Food Trucks outside of Yelp. I thought I would keep it peaceful with this:
Question: Name your favorite movie that involes a passenger  RR as a plot. I dare y'all ! Thought we could use a subject that we can agree on. -Matt

Hitchcock's North by Northwest. Although only featured in a small portion of the movie, The 20th Century Limited plays a key roll in the lead character's get away from authorities in New York. Silver Streak is a close second.

I don't remember the actual name of the movie, but I think others will remember the "Three Stooges" film I'm talking about where they were riding a night train and a lion got loose in the section sleeping car; they all managed to fit in an upper berth!

The movie Strangers on a Train has multiple shots of Danbury CT station, Washington Union Station., And interior of a real parlor car with rooms.

I'll nominate Silver Streak -- how can you not like all those scenes with the Canadian.

And if we consider the opposite (worst train movie about passengert trains ) DIsaster on the Coastliner -- that movie got so much wrong

Hard to beat the first Murder On The Orient Express.  But kudos to the Stooge episode -- they were victims of soicumstance!

There was a second one called "Pain In The Pullman". That's the one that they were traveling with the monkey.

Also an episode of The Honeymooners, in which Ralph and Ed were taking a train to the raccoon national convention and managed to handcuff themselves together in the car.

Gloria Swanson movie from 1952, "Three for Bedroom C".  Comedy about a cross country train trip of an aging actress heading to Hollywood on a sold out train who stowes away in a bedrrom belonging to someone else. Romance ensues.

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movies, don't know the names, where they are traveling by train. This is probably what started my love for sleeper travel.

A couple of less well known movies with interesting train scenes are -

— Alice’s Restaurant, which shows a real FL9-powered New Haven train stopping at Lee, MA, which was re-signed to be Stockbridge in the film

- Matewan, which features some steam scenes with, I believe, NKP 765, playing the part of an N&W locomotive.  I know - not the right era or look.

The best movie with a passenger train plot is the passenger board on TO some days.

"Chandler," the 1971 detective thriller that features Warren Oates as a washed-up private eye who shadows a pretty woman riding the Coast Daylight north from Los Angeles. The scenes in the Southern Pacific dome and automat cars are worth the price of admission. Aside from the train scenes, it's an awful movie.

"North By Northwest" is a far better movie. Love that Red Cap scene in Chicago.

That tops my list too. It's the real deal with max trains per minute.

Did they time that meet? Fine cinematography.

I watched the entire movie with English subtitles on YT a few years ago. May still be out there.

How about "White Christmas" when the Conductor collects a fare to ride in the lounge car after Danny gives away their drawing room to the girls? Also the station scenes in Vermont?
