Passenger Trains > F125’sDate: 07/20/19 06:13 F125’s Author: KDC How about a report card on the F125’s? Does anyone have anything? I really don’t understand why Progress Rail hasn’t sent a couple of demonstrators to Amtrak. ??

Date: 07/20/19 10:10 Re: F125’s Author: chess According to previous posts, the F125 was suffering from more reliability issues than the Siemens Chargers'. Also Amtrak wanted to consolidate and simplify it's locomotive fleet. The electrics in the NEC, the regional Midwest, Southwest, and Northwest trains are using Siemens engines, so why not use them on the LD routes as well. Easier for mechanical forces to deal with.

23 have been delivered of the 40 ordered ONLY 9 are in service 1 is awaiting replacement of a defective alternator bearing 2 were in an collision and have been repaired and are awaiting Certificates of Good Repair 6 have completed simulated service and are awaiting issuance of Conditional Acceptance Certificate 2 are in simulated service 3 are sitting around collecting dust awaiting their turn for the simulated service Simulated service is running on a train with a second locomotive for 2,500 failure-free hours Those are the facts. They speak for themselves. What is interesting to note is that they are saying they expect all 40 to be in service by the summer of 2020. Excuse me while I burst out laughing. You're laughing because they want to make sure they're reliable before they put them into service? Because we all know that if these units have any kind of failure in service you'll be one of the first to call Metrolink out on it. Date: 07/20/19 22:27 Re: F125’s Author: DevalDragon PHall Wrote:

He's laughing because some of these locomotives are nearly 4 years old and only 9 have been able to run for 2,500 failure free hours. This whole F125 fiasco is so tragic it is (kind of) funny. Date: 07/21/19 07:18 Re: F125’s Author: irhoghead I'd be willing to bet that there are forty plus year old SD40-2s running around out there that still put in 2,500 failure-free hours. It's amazing how low the remnants of EMD have sunk.

Search on "F-35 problems". Yow. Date: 07/21/19 08:44 Re: F125’s Author: utwazoo Duna Wrote:

EXACTLY! PHall, answer these:
The facts speak for themselves, the F125 is a fiasco. Metrolink, like so many other governmental bodies in Southern California, have to do things their own way sticking their noses up to what the rest of the country is doing proclaiming they are better than everyone else, and in doing so keep stumbling on their own feet. Date: 07/21/19 17:31 Re: F125’s Author: mundo Seldom agree with PHall and 3751, but they are 100% on target here.
For Metrolink, the future may be changing with a rail experienced manager joining the team, along with the new CEO now in place. Much damage has been done, but hopefully it will start to turn around. Date: 07/22/19 09:44 Re: F125’s Author: Abqfoamer Wow.
And to add tp the outrage,,,those F125s are the most garish, disjointed-looking, plain Uh-HUGLY-looking locos yet. Look like parade floats. What is going on??? Date: 07/23/19 14:08 Re: F125’s Author: KV1guy That was the F-22 ;-)
