Passenger Trains > 3&4 Kansas Service Disruption

Both are listed as service disruption, seems to be in central Kansas. Anybody able to shed light on it?

Don't know for sure but probably something to do with the storms rolling through there tonight.

I been hearing. About down trees along parts of the route.

Also yesterday.
There was a minor derailment of one train. And a minor sideswipe
 of another train, That was passing the train, that derailed, new Perrin, AZ (West of Williams)
That delayed the East Bound.

I haven't heard too much about the westbound trains.

Although I have heard some of it. Is signalling issues and the weather/Flooding in the midwest.
Im sure others can fill in details on this part

asmtransitdocs shows #3 detouring on the Emporia Sub at the moment.  I don't think there's a good connection at Mulvane to get up to Newton on the Ark City Sub.  Maybe they'll get towed backwards?  #4 is stopped in Newton.

Thanks to all. I was going to follow 3 west through “Semaphore-Land” and then meet 4, but I suppose I’ll drive on west and wait for the eastbound, then we’ll see about 3!

Newburn is a typo by whoever entered that on Amtrak alerts Twitter feed. Should read Newton

And should make up an hour on the detour!   

But what will happen to the two Amtrak trains in the early AM on Monday?  That decision is probably still hanging in mid-air somewhere. 

About the only route to bypass the wreck would be from Ellinor (west of Emporia) to Mulvane (wye at Mulvane) and back to Newton through Wichita.  I think there is another wye at the east end of Sand Creek Yard.

I know that.  There IS a NewBERN, KS but it has no railroad, and the closest
is Union Pacific.

You'd think Amtrak people would know station names and proofread what they
bang out on the keyboard.  You'd THINK, anyway.

Yes, which means there'd be a back-up move between the wye and the depot.  I asked on the Western board if there's
a direct connection westbound Emporia sub to northbound Ark City sub.  I don't believe there is.

Correct!  It requires a back up move!

That explains why he's at least 2 hours late right now!

There is also a New Bern, North Carolina.
No passenger rail service there today.
