RALPH.....and its just my opinion.  The F40PHM-3C's and their paint are FAR more attractive.  But thanks for sharing for others that drool over these.

Yet another mistake purchased.

First noticed it outside on 8/7/19. No lettering anywhere on it that I could see except for the number. Guess that comes later.

Wow that was quick, didn't realize they were being built already.  Damn, that thing needs a nose job though why couldn't they've followed Brightline?

I believe there are 4 SC44s on order for ACE, 1 WSDOT, and 10 for Coaster.

I'd stick with EMD products and M-K / BOISE.  Keep rebuilding--these engines are having problems.

EMD has forgot how to build locomotives under Progress Rail / Caterpillar management, and MK Boise no longer exists as it is now WABTEC / GE. As ugly as they are,the SC44 is the best option for a Tier 4 passenger locomotive in North America until either EMD is reborn or someone else decides to step up and give Siemens some competition.

They are the “best option” at this time and are failing mechanically on a regular basis showing how far $6M a piece goes.

Yup, Siemens post warranty product support is piss poor (all rail product lines), unless you have a post warranty technical support contract with them!

I know of 5 for Coaster -- not even aware of an option for 5 more. Anyone have additional info/? WSDOT is coming in what year?

WSDOT 1408 is due out in May.

I could be wrong on the number of SC44s Coaster is getting.

The first one built just a little over two years ago and their warranty has expired on a $6M untested locomotive and Siemens does not have ample inventory of parts for locos failing in the field. Siemens told the State Transportation Departments that the SC44 was available for purchase before the loco was tested. Siemens has robbed the State Transportation Departments blind and they are laughing all the way to the bank. All these problems with the SC44 yet Amtrak also signs on to purchase them? Apparently Amtrak has not yet learned anything from the past and is destined to repeat history one mechanical failed SC44 at a time.

So who else is building a reliable passenger loco? Seems like there is a big gap in that field and nobody is really jumping at the chance. F125's are a joke, apparently Siemens stuff isn't good, or is it because there are no parts available to keep them running? And, is there a common failure or is it all over the board?
