The NYC subway system is getting better! No, really...
Author: Lackawanna484

The NY Times transportation reporter offers a view on the measurable improvements in the subway, and what still needs to be done.

I would like to have seen a mention of the growing fear in late night travel as reports of robberies, beatings, etc continue.

New York politicians and media don't like to discuss those...only how GREAT New York is.

Meanwhile, MTA Managing Director Veronique "Ronnie" Hakim is resigning at the end of
November.  We'll see what kind of puppet Gov. Cuomo appoints to succeed her.

In most areas yes.The outer reaches of some areas of Brooklyn and the Bronx, no.
Ridership is 5.8 million per day.

I would agree with that. The system is generally safe. After 9 or 10, I would probably take an Uber out of some neighborhoods.

Many very exciting restaurants are in low rent areas, away from easy subway access.

For You?  No.

Do you know how kids always seem to know who to bully?  How animals can "smell" fear in a prey?  I'm torn between blaming the victim and you bring it on yourself.

The NY Daily News has the inconvenient news about the coming budget crunch with the MTA.

The out years of the labor contract, lots of deferred maintenance, the Cuomo DeBlasio feud, tolls, taxes, etc

What an inane comment.  Which city's politicians which LIKE to discuss crime on their transit systems or anywhere else in their cities?
