Totten crash in 2009.

ATC has several sub-systems. It's ATO (Automatic Train Operation) that was discontinued after Ft. Totten. It has come and gone on a trial basis since then. ATC is the umbrella term for speed enforcement, train separation, etc., that is still very much in operation. ATC allows operators to proceed at restricted speed after a stop indication, under certain conditions. But, apparently, this operator failed to follow protocol and did not receive clearance from the control center to do so. Paul Wilson Arlington, VA Edited 2 time(s).
