The Saga of No 8(11)
Author: bmarti7

No. 8 ran the KO Sub this morning (like yesterday), due to the directional running of the BNSF between Minot and Fargo. KO all eastward and via Grand Forks all westward. It departed Minot down 1:39 but actually made up time as the KO is shorter and they missed 3 station stops. No. 8 passed the detector at MP 16.2 "no defects", but then came to a halt a couple of blocks ahead. Then train ahead of them had a traction motor lock-upĀ  and they had to call-out roundhouse personnel from Dilworth. No. 8 sat between West Fargo and JY Jct for 2.5 hours.

Meanwhile No. 7 came through Fargo OT but was informed by the Grand Forks dispatcher that they would catch up to a loaded grainer west of Grand Forks and have to follow him all the way to Minot because of frozen switches. Also, an eastbound on the KO was listening to everything going on around West Fargo and asked the Minot East dispatcher if they might go via the Prosper Sub. After consultation with the Chief, they got permision to do so. Note: I have been asked if the prosper was ever used by through trains. There's your answer. Have a great Sunday.
