Passenger Trains > Late #14?

#14 of 10/19 seems to have sat in emeryville for 7 hrs 20 min last night - finally departing northbound Sunday at around 540am after having arrived at 1014pm last night. Anyone know why?

Possible crew rest issues?  The southbound #11 was delayed near Chico for several hours yesterday morning.  Possibly due to drunk driver hitting a CHP officer that was working at a grade crossing where the lights and gates were malfunctioning.

If it lost a unit, could it really take 7 hours to source one from Oakland?

On the Third World-railroad we call Amtrak--YES; anywhere else in the First World--NO!

I bet it was one of the cars!

 What do you expect from a third world govt? They don't have time to be bothered by doing something for the people, only themselves. Oh well, maybe one of these days it'll be gone and you guys will have to find something else bitch about. In the mean time, carry on, and on, and on...................

So do we have a winner with any of the above? What caused the near 8 hour delay of the #14 Coast Starlight on Saturday 10/19/2019?

From another source, radio issues on the lead unit and after swapping power around, brake issues on the new lead unit.

So in other words....3.5 hour delay per unit. Excellent. 

With that kind of performance they would qualify as a UP helper set based in Dunsmuir.
