On the Amtrak Unlimited website there is a post from a passenger on 52.  According to the post one of the auto carriers had to be set out.  The passenger said "We had a car carrier axle problem that locked the breaks."  And the crew ran out of time and they had to wait for a new crew.

A link, the post with the information is near the bottom of the second page.

The flip side of the delayed 52 is now marked for an 8.30 pm departure out of Lorton.  So. it looks like (most of) the equipment made it through.

Lorton loading crews have been extremely skilled in recovering time lost on the road.

So how does the "setout car carrier" get resolved? When the train gets to the terminal, there will be some passengers who won't have a car that they once had before they handed it over to Amtrak...............

It appears that an Amtrak extra, with the AMTK 815 and one auto rack, is to operate from Sanford to Lorton to pick up the hopefully-repaired auto rack that was set out at Yemassee.

This is going to cost 'em...equipment, fuel, crews, track and time payment to CSX...and at least full refunds (plus probable vouchers for future travel and rental car reimbursement) to the inconvenienced passengers.

Looks like the 53 arriving Sanford today will be about 4.5 hours late. Didn't gain any time, didn't lose any time. That's the late arriving / departing equipment in Lorton yesterday

I expect the 52 with this equipment will probably depart Sanford between 6 and 6.30 pm.
