Passenger Trains > Great western Tours two unit diner on Sierra RRDate: 11/10/19 18:42 Great western Tours two unit diner on Sierra RR Author: steamdiesel Back in the early 1970s the Sierra Railroad used a two unit diner kitchen. Originally from Union Pacific. Great Western Tours used the diner for the Sierra railroad dining car trains. They were named Adventurer and Nomad. Not sure what happened to the cars after Great Western Tours ownership.

The triple unit Cascade Club set at Niles Canyon is ex-Southern Pacific. Date: 11/11/19 08:57 Re: Great western Tours two unit diner on Sierra RR Author: dan well RR preservation does have a UP twin diner if you have any use for it, make an offer
another one became or 1/2 of it was in LA as a diner, not sure if UP had 4 sets or just 2 that were verified ,those were for the COD but after the COP-COD were combined in 1959 one train they were used elsewhere I believe think they were retired around 1968 by the UP Date: 11/11/19 14:55 Re: Great western Tours two unit diner on Sierra RR Author: Topfuel dan Wrote:

As usual, it is in pieces to some extent - dorm gutted, etc, but is more or less sort of intact if you don't mind trucks that are "Some Assembly Required". The other UP set (there were two of these 1953 ACF twin unit sets built for UP) was separated and as Dan notes the dining room half ended up as part of a "Railroader Restaurant" in the Inland Empire of Southern CA. It was moved to another restaurant in Yuma, AZ maybe 25 years ago. The kitchen dorm half was stored on the Ventura County RR for a few years and ultimately scrapped by Purdy Co in Mojave, CA circa 1980's.
