Here's the Panama Railroad I remember with my twenty two month stay in Panama 1965 to 1967 courtesy of Uncle Sam. You could go from the Atlantic to the Pacific in less time then a Concorde. Loved the humid climate and the rain.  I never would have thought that SP domes would be running down there.

I understand the shuttle from the airport to the hotel now has a $10 per person fee.

I believe Kansas City Southern operates the Panama Canal Railroad.  I had a chance to
ride it a few years back and it was a very delightful trip.  The guide on board was a colorful
character named "Charlie" and he referred to his lady assistants as his "Chalie's Angels."
I rode in a former SP dome car that had been completely redone and it was a delight to
ride in.  Much of the trackage runs right by the canal and locks.

I too was down there at that time period. I was not able to take any pictures, unfortunately. I found out later that the original passenger cars came from The Cumberland and Pennsylvania during WW 2. I can't help but wonder if the cars in your picture are the same but with upgraded roofs.

A betting pool would be fun. $10 buy-in, winner-take-all, for nearest HH:MM of #91s arrival at Tampa.
