The Two Amtrak Redheads on the NEC
Author: Mastadon

On Saturday, word filtered out that both of Amtrak's "special" ASC-64s would be heading south to DC. With a beautiful sunny day work with, it was time to head trackside on the Northeast Corridor.

First up was train 143 with the Veterans motor, the 642 at Aberdeen, Maryland. With a few hours to kill before the next event, it was time to head over to the Tidewater Grille in Havre de Grace to enjoy some Cream of Crab Soup and a few Yuengling Hershey's Porters.

With the sun getting low, train 161 with the 606 in the recently released Coke wrap motor showed up at the Susquehanna River crossing in Havre de Grace.

On Friday, the 606 was southbound at the MARC Halethorpe station with train 51.

A little variety is always a good thing.

Always like photos from the NEC. Very nice.

And who knew there was a "Natural Resources Police" with their own navy? You learn something new every day.

"The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) is the enforcement arm of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), with statewide police authority in all cases.

"We are the lead law enforcement agency for maritime incidents on Maryland waterways that do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Federal Bureau of Investigation or the United States Coast Guard."

Nice shot at Havre de Grace.

If it floats, swims, or crawls on the bottom in Maryland waters, the NRP has jurisdiction.

NRP lays claim to the oldest statewide police force in Maryland. Originally formed in the 1860s as the "State Oyster Police" to enforce oystering regulations.
