Laden with holiday traffic, the Southwest Chief 3(26) got even bigger with another Coach.

Two P42s (one is the AMTK 50, fresh from Beech Grove in shiny new paint, minus the
"Big Game Train" logo that it has worn for years...the other, the AMTK 127).

Baggage
Transition Sleeper
Three full Sleeping Cars
Diner
Sightseer Lounge
FIVE Coaches

Here, in a video capture at LaPlata MO, passengers enjoy dinner in the Southwest Chief's dining car.

And PropellerHead Anderson would do away with not just the diner, but the whole train!

I will guess that 2 of those coaches may be set out at KCY for use of passengers traveling to Chicago.  In addition they will pick up in La Plata a large crowd of college students, from nearby Truman State University located in Kirksville MO, around 12 miles North of La Plata.  Two years ago the loaded around 50 at La Plata on the day before Thanksgiving!

You could be right about the setouts at KCY. 

Incidentally, Silver Meteor 97(26) is running five coaches and four sleepers. 
Consist of Silver Starvation 91(26) is only four coaches and two sleepers.

Thanks for clarifying! That makes sense! No way could the SWC be going up to five coaches! Lucky it got an extra sleeper for the holidays! Glad though that Amtrak is seeing value in the higher end revenue!

3(26) Consist is unchanged out of Kansas City.  No setout.

Train 3 is sold out in coaches tonight from Flagstaff, with two deadheading superliner coaches,  Yes the business class car from the Starlight  would have allowed revenue passengers..  Course the yield team did  know t he cars were on !.
