Amfleet I Coach Question
Author: Amtrak288

When I was in Chicago last September, I photographed a coach that no longer has the "Illinois High Speed Rail" badging on its side, I know this as I have another older photo of the same coach when it still had the badging.  Is this a regular thing or did I just see an anomaly?

Some of those had the "High Speed" logos buffed out. There was a photo of one with the remnants still legible, posted here some months ago.

Not sure exactly what is being referenced, but if you are meaning does Amtrak ever swap Amfleet I cars between Chicago/Midwest and the Northeast - the answer is YES! One occasionally sees the "Northeast Regional" logo on the Amtrak 1 Cafe cars sitting in the Chicago yard. There's a couple of coach car numbers I have also seen in the Chicago yard that used to be in the Northeast.

What is the top speed nowadays on the Chicago-St. Louis corridor?

110 mph...a little bit of it.

Nope.  Back to 79mph.   The 110 section was deactivated many months ago

That might explain why they removed the "Illinois High Speed Rail" badge.

Thanks. Forgot about that, there was so little of it and it was useless. But I thought it was still in effect when the buffed-out photo was posted here.
