I hope this passenger realized their shoe fell off. If this passenger is anything like some that ride my trains, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they departed with one less shoe..

He departed with his shoe. I think one of the station agents picked it up for him.

I thought there as a limit on how much you could carry on.

looks like she  has that look and is starting that way,  she needs to be vigilent of a lot of train they way he packs his baggage,  his baggage  may take up more room  than meets the eye

and she has seen it before

Homelss person moving to a new city.

Traveling like this, with no real baggage that is easily carried, shouldn't be allowed.  It inconvenices everyone else, and often is trashy.

AMTRAK needs to enforce its rules.

The trash bag as luggage per the Service Standards Manual is prohibited. However, crews are not allowed to enforce it. Station managers and customer service still send them down to the trains and CNOC, management and station services do not back up crews.

Do these new caretakers, taking over from ticket agents, have any authority over enforcement ? If not, baggage rules might as well be written in pencil on toilet paper.

Should not be allowed on the train with that much stuff. Has this person never heard of actual luggage?

You ever heard the term "Throwaway Samsonite"? That's what we call it. All of that is prohibited and is too much to be allowed to carry on without excess charges paid...

amtrak uses trash bags as waste cans why shouldn't passengers be allowed to use them

I can hear this photo. The “doors open” alert chime sounds *dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...*dink dink*...all while the locomotive sits, the HEP generator screams, and a few more minutes are lost.

"Lateness is a social construct".

Being on-time is only important to those people who have to be at a particular place at a particular time.
