Passenger Trains > St Louis to carbondale thruway

Any one used it?

Seems like a dedicated bus from a smaller company.

Been dedicated buses on this route for years.

Not sure your question.  Are you asking if they have changed contract bus company.?

I believe it is a van or mini-bus.

i have taken it good service/

I have use it at least a half dozen times - each time it has been a 12 passenger van.

Anyone here remember when there was a TRAIN between those cities?  It was the River Cities...one F40PH and a Coach...at times a Dome Coach.  The day I rode, there were two passengers in the dome coach...my wife and me.

Wow, had to look that up, actually listed as a New Orleans to KC train via St. Louis.  I would guess it was extremely slow in that capacity.  Wik shows bus was St. Louis to Centralia but must have changed at some point.

and you cant book that bus for those 2 points, guess only for connection.

T rode a one car River Cities once. It was a fun train to ride.

One trip that I was on, the conductor passed out box meals in the Dome !.

Does anyone remember the Amtrak arrangement for this train? I slightly remember there was switching in Carbondale. Would the CofNO bring the power and car to C’dale? The last F40 and first car would become the train to St. Louis from C’dale, but why? Other than power and cars for the Illini, I don’t remember anything else laying over at C’dale.
