Passenger Trains > NJT's River Road Bridge over the RVL - updateDate: 02/28/20 10:46 NJT's River Road Bridge over the RVL - update Author: Pattenburg Photo of the work taking place in North Branch (NJ) on February 28th as NJT train 5176 heads east on the NJT's Raritan Valley Line through the construction zone. The unseasonably mild winter weather NJ has experienced allows this NJ DOT project to continue without any weather interruptions so far. That yellow machine is boring holes for the steel girders that will be slotted in there for the new bridge. In talking with one of the workers, I inquired as to when the span might be started and his response was April. How this bridge looked before the construction in an August 30, 2019 image of NJT 5736. Stay tuned for further updates as they occur on the progress of this project.

Though with ADA, it would be an expensive endeavor for about 80 morning rush boardings and 7 car trains.
