https://www.lohud.com/story/news/transit/2020/03/12/metro-north-ridership-coronavirus-commute/5035802002/ Remember that New Rochelle within MN turf is a hot spot for the state with special precautions in place. Upstate NY is not that hard hit as of now, though all SUNY campuses will shut down for the rest of the Spring semester once "Spring" break starts next week. It will be economically a set-back for those towns. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/12/20 15:00 by joemvcnj. Dave Date: 03/12/20 18:40 Re: NJ Transit sees 10% rider drop Author: chess A 10% drop? Try more like a 50% drop. My train down the Pascack Valley Line, 1612, usually carries around 750-800 people. This morning, and all of this week, if there was 450 people on board, it was a lot. And it's only going to get lighter. From what my fellow conductors have been telling me, ridership is down a lot more than 10% on all lines..

Given the way revenue is reported, etc, it's likely the data refers to last week's rider totals. With all the firms, colleges, etc telling people to work from home, this week into next week will probably continue to drop count. |
