Passenger Trains > Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service?Date: 03/16/20 05:09 Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service? Author: Englewood The Illinois governor has ordered all restaurants closed for two
weeks beginning at the end of business Monday. Exceptions will be for delivery, drive thru, and curbside service. Anyone know if Amtrak diners (those few that exist) will be open within Illinois? The gov, who lives in Chicago even tho Springfield is the capital, was upset because St. Patrick's Day celebrators did not listen to his worship's request not to congregate in bars. He has now taken out his wrath on his subjects. A look at him shows that he has never missed a meal in his life. If you are making connections through Chicago stock up on munchies!!!!! I don't know where they will feed you if you miss connections and must stay overnight. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/16/20 05:13 by Englewood. Billionaire's have home staff, cooks etc. Not available for everyone else. If he wants to promote social distancing, quit having unncessary new conferences. Bob Jordan Date: 03/16/20 08:33 Re: Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service? Author: jp1822 EL-SD45-3632 Wrote:

This will be a standard through the whole country pretty soon, I would imagine. Date: 03/16/20 08:40 Re: Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service? Author: HotWater jp1822 Wrote:

Right. You folks might want to research the Stafford Act, of 1988. Date: 03/16/20 08:44 Re: Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service? Author: jp1822 HotWater Wrote:

Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (Stafford Act) is a United States federal law designed to bring an orderly and systemic means of federal natural disaster assistance for state and local governments in carrying out their responsibilities to aid citizens. Author: ghCBNS In VIA's Corridor as of tomorrow they are offering a 'Complementary' Snack and Water in Coach which you previously paid for......and certainly to cut down on the handling of food items and payment. VIA had recently gone cashless like airlines but a credit card terminal still had to be handled.

Too bad the US is so ass-backwards compared to Canada with Contactless cards. I requested one from Chase last week today, even though the card does not expire until 2023. I used it at a barber shop today. Added in the tip as well. I didn't have to touch anything of theirs. Wash your wallet, and whatever container you put pocket change in. Money is extremely dirty. Put your pocket change in a cup of soap and bleach every night. Spray your paper money with some white vinegar. It is a cleaner, though not CDC certified as such. Edited 1 time(s). Exactly! I've worked with FEMA on numerous disasters. The Stafford Act allows the release of federal funding and assets to state and local governments to assist with response and mitigation. It has nothing to do with quarantines or closing businesses. Date: 03/16/20 10:49 Re: Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service? Author: robj joemvcnj Wrote:

LOL Date: 03/16/20 10:52 Re: Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service? Author: DevalDragon I am trying to think of any Amtrak dining car, which would operate in Illinois, that would have more than 50 people in it at any one time. So I think Amtrak is safe for now.
However, if Amtrak follows Via Rail's lead and cancels all overnight trains this becomes a moot point. Date: 03/16/20 11:43 Re: Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service? Author: Wurli1938 The same in Massachusetts - just take out, or delivery. Some of the Starbucks have even removed the tables and chairs. I think that the food stations in South Station in Boston are open they are all take out. Schools are closed for three weeks, and no meetings anyplace of more than 25 people - most organizations, clubs, etc have cancelled. Casinos also closed.

Its a well know fact that the handling of currency is one of the leading contributors to the spread of this virus. Therefore, as a public service, you are asked to carefully place all of your currency into an envelop, seal (use a sponge or other moist device, don't lick it) and send it to me and I will make sure it is safely and properly disposed of. and they don't let you walk up to the drive thru. Where do Amtrak crews eat at their layover point? The hotel restaurant, now closed. Date: 03/16/20 12:46 Re: Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service? Author: DevalDragon Englewood Wrote:

You can walk up to the counter and order, you just can't eat inside the dining room. Date: 03/16/20 14:30 Re: Illinois Gov. closing restaurants today-Amtrak food service? Author: steve4031 I actually called a Hilton hotel in Chicago area. I asked about eating. The hotel person said you could order through room service only. So people staying in hotels have access to food.

There's something a bit ironic about a governor named DeWine closing all the bars in his state. |
