Passenger Trains > Several Acela Sets Heading for Temporary StorageDate: 03/17/20 15:44 Several Acela Sets Heading for Temporary Storage Author: cr2581 Due to the service disruption caused by the corona virus. KP701 moved a set from Wilmington to Bear this afternoon. The first three images are at Davis Interlocking in Newark, DE, the last shows the move crossing Route 40 in Bear.

Without the UD students in town you were able to catch it in several locations.
Is it possible thatmaybe a permanant retirement if this virus hangs around? Aren't they to be replaced next year? Date: 03/17/20 16:37 Re: Several Acela Sets Heading for Storage Author: mp51w Where did those engines come from? Pretty sharp, and the headlight is in the legacy location!

66 Date: 03/17/20 21:25 Re: Several Acela Sets Heading for Storage Author: jp1822 I would think "storage" may be a little drastic at this time, but OK! Especially for storing in Bear, DE where there's no direct catenary to/from the main line (as one can see in the photos). Penn Coach Yard could have likely have handled all six, even though I am sure Amtrak is looking to store other equipment here too. But there's other spots to stash Amfleets if needed. Bear storage seems a little more permanent to me.
