The Coast Starlight Detours!
Author: jonathanstrains

Hi train fans,

Does anyone know the recent update on when the Coast Starlight will detour over Tehachapi between Los Angeles - Oakland?? The last I heard was about April 3 - 5, but I haven't heard anything about changing the dates bcs of coronavirus lockdowns. If one of you guys ever get any information, if the one in April gets canceled or postponed, please let me know.

Thanks
Jonathan

By then there might not be a train to detour. Amtrak should be happy. Fewer loses from those nasty long distance trains.

I'd think it would depend on ridership?  At some point it just might not make sense to run.  The state run trains I know of have been cut back drastically so I don't see this as a LD issue only.

Just maybe the UP workers will not be available to do the bridge job.

Trust me, the chance to bring home a paycheck will have them out there.
