Passenger Trains > "New Celebrity"Date: 03/31/20 18:46 "New Celebrity" Author: aussiehinz Today was "Metra Day" here in the Windy City, as two unusual events came to pass. First, MP36 #402 led an afternoon Rock Island District train bound for Joliet as its first revenue run. The 402 sports a brand new red white and blue livery that honors the State of Illinois and the six county metropolitan region that Metra serves. Second, Metra's one of a kind GP23ECO #10 made a first ever appearance across the St. Charles Air Line at "MH" Tower, as it brought a bi level and one ballast car from 47th Street to 14th Street. Nice to actually be able to think about something besides the crazy times we are going through these days, even if only for a short while.

Boy that Fifth Street Tower could use a few shingles. Great to see some shots from MH Tower north. Date: 04/01/20 07:04 Re: "New Celebrity" Author: masterphots rbenko Wrote:

I was gonna ask if they're rebuilding that tower or it's just another example of deferred maintenance. Date: 04/01/20 08:21 Re: "New Celebrity" Author: kevink masterphots Wrote:

My understanding is that the tower is on short time. Once some signal and track projects in the area are completed, it will be removed.
