Passenger Trains > Busy night for 3(1) at LaPlataDate: 04/02/20 09:32 Busy night for 3(1) at LaPlata Author: GenePoon More passengers boarded Amtrak 3(1) at La Plata than had entrained the Chief in the prior week put together. It was hard to get an exact count as they boarded since the Coach with the open door stopped off the elevated section of platform, so one had to use the distant-view camera, but eight were waiting as the train arrived, and when it departed, nobody remained. All were Amish, not a single English among the boarding passengers. If you wanted to find a demographic that could be less affected by the coronavirus due to their self-isolation, they could be it.
Train arrived a bit early, departed on time. A long BNSF with two midtrain DPUs rolled in during the station stop and wasn't past yet when the Chief pulled out. No Bob Cox. Edited 1 time(s). Had it not been for the current crisis, #3 would have made a stop on 4/1 at Marceline for a group of 25 as well. Postponed for another day.
