Although SEPTA trains no longer roll in and out of Reading Terminal, the Silverliner IV cars continue to soldier on with little change except the paint schemes.

Here's a view of a train which just came off the Media/Elwyn line at Jefferson Station (formerly the Market East Station which replaced the Reading Terminal in 1984).  The photo was taken at 9:17 pm on August 23, 2018.

Thank you for looking.

With all do respect....(as some one who lived in Phila much too long)  The original 6 silverlines, and then the Budd Silverliner2's and St Louie Silverliner 3's were a lot nicer looking than the 4's and 5's, which i believe are all th's left.   They are not "sll the same" to me.  There's been a slow transition from what I would call "Railroad cars", to something closer to square box subway cars. .

These were GE's short lived entry into the transit market.   I was at the Erie plant when these were built.   As I recall, the company lost a ton of money on  these and thus ended that market

@ pdt:  I prefer the Silverliner III cars, too.  However, If I posted a photo of a Silverliner III, it would have to be on the Nostalgia Board as SEPTA retired them!  :)

That said, I've learned to find beauty in the Silverliner IVs.

@ kycifan: Even though General Electric lost money, SEPTA got 45+ years out of them.  That's a good run in my book.
