Heads up #4 (25) is over 5 hours late
Author: rgzfan

Went through Springer (1/2 hour south of Raton) around 10 pm instead of 4:12 pm.

It was stopped at Bernallilo for hours between the two stations. When it came through Springer, it had 3 locomotives, all Amtrak.

4(25)'s units, AMTK 94 and 23 (corrected from earlier report), had multiple problems since Needles and one went dead at Albuquerque.  It got "fixed" but died again at Bernanillo.  Crew van took the C&E back to Albuquerque where they took the AMTK 41 that was set out be 3(25), and ran it light engine (at reduced speed, per rules) to add as lead unit...so it was reported*.   Lost 1 1/2 hrs Needles-ABQ, 4 1/2 hrs Albuquerque-Bernalillo, OS at Dodge City over six hours late.

* NOTE: Either the 41 wasn't added in the lead after all, or for some reason it got moved to the trail position, as it was spotted at LaPlata.

3(25) with AMTK 41 and 60 set out the 41 at Albuquerque for lame unit on 4(25).  The 60 then overheated, was nursed to Gallup where BNSF 7092 was added ahead.  5 hours or so late at the AZ/CA border.

PHOTOS: Railcam grabs, 3(25) at Lugo, CA (Cajon Pass) and 4(25) at LaPlata.
